Although I was a lucky one and didn't have a lot of things break, I did all my own mods, and did a lot of learning as I went. My dad knows a lot about cars, just not newer cars. He did a lot of hotrodding back in his day, so he taught me the basics. I've taught him about forced induction and turbo theory :)\ Best way to learn is to decide on some easy projects, and then use manuals and the internet to figure out what other things are under the hood, so when something breaks, you kinda know where it is and how it works.
